10/28/2023 0 Comments Flat footingThe only trouble he had was getting it off the center stand, but I showed him how to do that off the bike. I let a Mexican guy ride my bike who was about six inches shorter than me. My 5 foot 6 friend who rides a tall BMW gets up on his bike while it's still on the sidestand, using the footpeg. I've known several shorter guys who ride tall bikes, and they don't seem to be unsafe, or have any trouble. ![]() Is there any reason one needs to flat-foot a bike, besides convenience? I'm sure when it's raised I won't be able to flat-foot any more. I'm considering putting raising links on it to give me a little more ground clearance, and I've heard from some that the bike feels better that way. In fact, most of the time, I don't even put both feet down. I ride a DL650, and I can just barely flat-foot it. ![]() People lower their bike, or don't buy particular bikes because they are "too tall." There seems to be some sort of obsession with being able to flat-foot a motorcycle. I have to first point out that I'm a little over 6', so I don't have much trouble with tall bikes, but I still have a question.
